Strawberry, Banana and Mango Smoothie
There’s nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than a delicious smoothie. While there are infinite ways of creating smoothies (some like the made with ice, some dairy based, some with fruit juice and frozen fruit), I’ve found that I prefer them one specific way: with bananas as the base.
Not only are bananas cheap, healthy and delicious, they also lend a perfectly smooth, creamy consistency when frozen and then blended. I blend all my smoothies with unsweetened vanilla almond milk, which reduces the amount of unnatural sugar yet provides a sweet flavor. After that, it’s just a matter of blending whatever other fruits you have on hand!
But that’s not all. There’s a secret ingredient in this smoothie, and it’s hemp hearts. What are hemp hearts, you ask? They’re shelled hemp seeds, and they’re just bursting with protein. They’re considered a superfood, due to the fact that they’re 33% protein, contain Omega-3 fatty acids, iron and vitamin E. They add a delicious, nutty flavor to anything you put them in, and will help give you the energy you need to jumpstart your day.
This recipe creates one serving.
