There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on treasure island.
Through learning, we continue to grow. We learn from our own successes and failures but we can also learn from others. Books contain so many lessons through which we can enhance our lives. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve gifted “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” by Dr Seuss to my adult friends over the years. That book has inspired me in many dark moments. It always manages to put everything in perspective. Yes, I know it’s a children’s book but it’s really an everybody book. It’s the story of life and for me, it connects us all by showing that we all have the same emotional ups and downs in life. We just experience them through different events.
Aside from the lessons, a funny story can made us roar with laughter after a hard day. A sad story can make us realise that we aren’t alone in our struggles and that everybody has these moments. Knowing that you aren’t alone can sometimes be all that you need to feel comforted.
Books contain heartfelt messages to which an author has dedicated their precious time. The stories within can be truly life changing or at least ignite within you a belief that anything is possible and that your goals are possible to achieve.
